These tubes operate using a simple colorimetric detection principle: air is drawn through the tube using a Dräger Accuro® or X-act® pump, and the target gas reacts with the reagent inside the tube to produce a visible color change. The length of the discoloration indicates the concentration of the gas, which can be read directly from the printed scale on the tube.
