Description

PeakWorks offers a new series of self-retracting lifelines that are third-party certified to the newest CSA Z259.2.2 standard for leading-edge applications (LE) and for overhead use. Leading-edge SRLs are designed to protect a worker when working near an edge and a fall hazard exists. They provide additional protection against sharp or abrasive surfaces found on many construction sites. The lightweight durable aluminum housing unit is approved for use in vertical and horizontal applications. The attachment points include a swivel eye on housing and double-action locking snap hooks with fall indicator to connect to the worker’s fall arrest D-ring.

  • Leading Edge (LE) self-retracting lifelines are designed to protect the worker when operating near an edge and where a fall hazard exists that could cause the lifeline to come into contact with the edge
  • Leading Edge SRLs provide additional protection against sharp or abrasive surfaces found on many construction sites
  • A Leading Edge SRL can be mounted below a worker's fall arrest D-Ring (please refer to instruction manual for details)

Leading Edge Self-Retracting Lifeline for Fall Protection

The PeakWorks 20-FT Leading Edge SRL is a self-retracting lifeline designed for fall protection in leading-edge applications and overhead work. Construction workers, site supervisors, and maintenance technicians commonly use this Leading Edge SRL to support controlled fall arrest near edges. This CSA Z259.2.2-2017 certified equipment also meets ANSI Z359.14-2014, Class B, and it features an aluminum housing with a galvanized steel web lifeline and snap hook connections.

Industry Applications and Professional Use

Construction Work Environments

Construction crews typically use this fall protection equipment on roofs, formwork, steel framing, and elevated platforms. Workers often need leading-edge applications support when they move near drop-offs or exposed deck edges. The 20 ft self-retracting lifeline gives crews a compact setup for daily access work and fall arrest tasks.

Utilities and Energy Work

Utility line workers and maintenance teams commonly rely on an SRL when they work around platforms, towers, and service structures. These jobs often involve vertical application and horizontal application movement, so a swivel eye and snap hook help support routine tie-off. The leading-edge rated design matches demanding field conditions where edges and abrasions are common.

Manufacturing Facilities

Plant maintenance teams use this web lifeline when they service mezzanines, catwalks, and elevated equipment. In indoor work areas, workers often need fall arrest hardware that stays compact and easy to connect. Aluminum housing and a single leg design help support efficient movement in controlled industrial spaces.

Transportation and Fleet Operations

Transportation crews often use leading-edge SRLs when they access trailers, loading structures, and elevated service areas. These environments can change quickly, so workers benefit from a durable anchorage connector and a clear fall arrest setup. All Safety customers often choose this style for everyday access tasks where edge exposure may occur.

Mining and Heavy Work Sites

Mining and heavy industrial teams typically work around platforms, walkways, and equipment decks with exposed edges. A galvanized steel lifeline and steel anchor hook support rugged use in demanding conditions. The Class B design suits elevated work where workers need a reliable single-leg web system.

Technical Specifications and Product Features

Understanding Product Standards

Technical specs matter because they help match the SRL to the job, the structure, and the required fall clearance. This product is certified to CSA Z259.2.2-2017 and ANSI Z359.14-2014, Class B, which supports leading-edge applications and overhead use. Workers and supervisors should review capacity, connection type, and clearance needs before use.

Specification What It Means Practical Benefit
CSA Z259.2.2-2017 Canadian standard for SRL performance in leading-edge applications Helps confirm the unit suits compliant fall protection planning
ANSI Z359.14-2014, Class B U.S. SRL classification for specific fall arrest use Supports broader jobsite compatibility and specification review
20 ft / 6.09 m length Working length of the self-retracting lifeline Supports access work on compact elevated areas
141 kg / 310 lb capacity Maximum user capacity rating Helps crews choose equipment that fits the task and user setup
Aluminum housing and galvanized steel lifeline Durable body and cable materials Supports frequent use in harsh industrial conditions

Use Case Scenarios and Applications

Roof Edge Access

Workers typically use this leading-edge SRL when they move along roof edges, parapets, and service corridors. The self-retracting lifeline helps reduce slack while workers reposition during access tasks. Crews should verify fall clearance and edge distance before work begins.

Bridge and Steel Erection

Bridge and steel erection crews often need overhead and horizontal movement support during assembly work. The swivel eye and snap hook connections help with repeated positioning around structural steel. This setup works well when workers need a compact fall arrest solution near open edges.

Platform and Mezzanine Work

Industrial teams commonly use this SRL on mezzanines, elevated platforms, and catwalks. These areas often create frequent edge exposure, so a leading-edge rated unit can support controlled movement. The single-leg web lifeline suits tasks that require straightforward tie-off.

Routine Maintenance Access

Maintenance crews often wear this equipment during inspections, repairs, and service calls that run across a shift. It fits daily-use and occasional-use scenarios when workers need dependable fall protection near overhead hazards. The compact housing helps support repeated connections and disconnects.

Ideal Applications and Work Environments

Where This Leading Edge SRL Excels

Available from All Safety with standard, expedited, or overnight shipping to suit project timelines.

Daily Use and Maintenance

Workplace Integration

Workers typically connect the SRL to a full body harness and anchorage point when they start elevated tasks near edges or overhead hazards. Use it per manufacturer instructions, and verify the dorsal D-ring connection before moving into the work area. Crews commonly use it on roofs, platforms, and elevated structures.

Care and Replacement Guidelines

Perform pre-use and periodic inspection of the lifeline, hooks, housing, and indicators according to manufacturer instructions. Clean the unit with mild methods and avoid contaminants, then store it in a dry, clean location away from sunlight, chemicals, and sharp edges. Replace the SRL after a fall event or any damage, per manufacturer specifications.
